We live in British Columbia and crossed the Canadian and US border and were on our way to Montana. We planned to waymark our way to Anaconda, Montana via Libby and Eureka then head south.

K had never visited Idaho or Montana and as for me it was so long ago, I dare not mentions how many years it has been since I was there.

From Hwy. 95 in Idaho, you head SE on Hwy. 2 the Idaho sign is 45 meters from the border and the Montana sign is 170 meters. The first town in Montana is Troy which is 14 km away.

Through Idaho and Montana, Hwy. 2 parallels the Kootenai River though not visible from the highway until another 9 km, there is a pullout there.

Along Hwy. 2 is mostly forest but one can glimpse the snowcapped mountains in the distance.

Once is Montana the forest continues with a ranger station not far from the border crossing. We spent three weeks in Montana and a week in Idaho and enjoyed every minute of it and plan a return trip next year.
