The former Midland Courthouse was built in 1907 as a result of the increasing population and the establishment of the Midland Railway Workshops,the building served as the local court until it was replaced by the present court in 1987. It is built in the Federation Academic Classical style in brick, with front and facings of Donnybrook stone and a corrugated iron roof
