The three boxes are in an east-west line, the first on Stanley Street, the second on Josephine Street and the third on Hall Street. All are between Baker and Vernon Streets.

Each of the three boxes has a short account of a particular segment of the facility's history. This one deals with the years 1971 to 2010.

The smaller box also features a former mayor of the city, Louis Maglio, who was instrumental in guiding Nelson Hydro through some rough waters in the early 70s. He lived from 1917 to 2007.

NELSON HYDRO HISTORY: 1971-2010
In 1971, the Columbia River Treaty projects on the Kootenay Lake and River System and BC Hydro's Kootenay Canal Project were threatening the City's hydro-electric operations. With the firm leadership of Mayor Louis Maglio and Council, Nelson survived the expropriation of 25.26 acres of land for the Kootenay Canal, and retained ownership of the City's power plant and electrical distribution system, as well as 12 acres of land at Upper Bennington Falls. In 1989, Nelson acquired a further 265 cubic feet of water for power generation, followed by the voters' approval in 1991 of an additional powerhouse and an 6,800 kilowatt (7000 HP) generator, which went into operation on June 19, 1995.
