Located along El Paseo Drive, a very ritzy area full of high-end retail store and art galleries is a bronze bust of the founder of Palm Desert, Clifford W. Henderson. There is a bronze plaque underneath the bust that reads:

CLIFFORD W. HENDERSON FOUNDER OF THE CITY OF PALM DESERT HAD THE VISION IN 1946 TO ACQUIRE THIS LAND AND PLAN FOR THE CITY'S SUCCESSFUL DEVELOPMENT. THIS BUST IS PRESENTED TO PALM DESERT IN APRIL 1978 BY HIS FRIENDS AND CITIZENSIN DEEPEST GRATITUDE AND APPRECIATION

There is an artist's inscription by Henry McCann from 1978 on the back of the bust. This bust is located in the median of El Paseo and easy to miss if you're not paying attention.
