The 1896 Volunteer Drill Hall, designed by George Temple-Poole in the Federation Romanesque style, was the first of the many buildings comprising the Swan Barracks , others and additions were added up until 1958, After Federation the Barracks were used as the Fifth Military District Headquarters until 1993 , it is now used as back-packers accomodation.
