"In 2005 black belt Dave Clahan, decided to open a much-needed East Bay academy for the Ralph Gracie family, choosing Berkeley as the location to further spread Gracie Jiu Jitsu in the Bay Area. With a history of champion black belt head instructors, the Ralph Gracie Berkeley Academy has consistently grown since its opening.
