Over 900 people attended a champagne gala to celebrate the opening of the first theatre in the young city of Pleasant Hill. The first movie shown that night of February 21, 1967 was Dr. Zhivago. Originally built for Century Theatres, the starstopped futuristic dome building was designed by Vincent G Raney for Syufy Enterprises. Later operating as Cinearts Theatre, the dome provided many years if movie enjoyment and memories until its final showing on April 1, 2013.
