A geocache brought my wife and me to this location and we were pleasantly surprised to find this remote outdoor shelter located a short distance off the popular Pacific Crest Trail. This shelter was constructed by the Army National Guard in 1993 and is available all year for hikers, horseback riders and snowmobilers in the winter time. We found a guest book inside the shelter that had been signed by hundreds of individuals from all over the world. The shelter is a quiet haven for those hikers or snowmobilers that need a place to stay overnight or even warm up by the stove for an hour. There is plenty of firewood and some donated cans of food to help the weary traveler in need. An iron maiden (hand water pump) is located nearby as well as a horse hitch for horesback riders.
