I recovered this U.S. Geological Survey benchmark from 1908 in good condition. This old disk is monumented on the side of a rocky outcrop just north of Dead Indian Memorial Rd. Most of the datasheet description is now obsolete but the listed coordinates will place you close enough to recover this disk based off my posted pictures. What's interestin about this location is that one can barely make out the remnants of the previous Dead Indian Rd before it was relocated further south. I thought it was an old logging road all filled in with smaller trees and didn't realize until reading the datasheet back at home that it was the former Dead Indian Rd. Based off this datasheet information and the current road, the long-abandoned log cabins would be located in the spot where the current Dead Indian Rd exists. A great spot to visit here if you get the chance!
