To the south are the Soderglen, consisting of 47 turbines, each producing 1.5 megawatts of power, and the Ardenville , with 23, 3 MW wind turbines with a capacity of 69 MW. The nearest windmill is the Macleod Flats facility, a single turbine, one of the first 3 MW turbines installed in North America. It was installed in 2004.

Altogether there are about 185 windmills in the farms to the south of Fort MacLeod, with a combined capacity of about 290 megawatts. This number grows almost every year. The majority of the facilities are operated by Transalta Utilities. They were installed, for the most part, between 2002 and 2010.
