Listed on the National Register of Historic Places with a further award as a National Historic Landmark, the Fox Theatre was built by William Fox. It was one of five spectacular theaters built in the 1920's. In addition to the Art Deco style it had Burmese, Chinese, Indian and Persian influences. It seated 5,048 movie goers. It was the first theater in the world to have built-in equipment for sound films and the Fox chain patented their system called Movietone. In 1988 the LLitch's purchased the property and fully restored it to its formal glory.
