PLSS T11 R4E S17 16 - Winnipeg MB - Public Land Survey Marks on Waymarking.com

It's 19 meters south of Springfield Road and 13 meters west of the Oxford Street West. It is typical Dominion Land Survey mark for the northeast corner of Section 17 and the northwest corner of section 16 which at part of the Rural Municipality of Springfield. The north side of the road is the City of Winnipeg and it was laid out as River Lots.

In the 1800's, the first survey divided the land into river lots along the Red River. These river lots were long narrow lots similar to those in Quebec. Each lot had 660 feet of river frontage and extended back from the river to a road called the “Two Mile Road.” It then extended a further two miles to the “Four Mile Road.” The latter land was also called hay grazing or hay privilege land. This is nearly 4 miles from the Red River so it would have been hay privilege land.
