John Curtin was born in Cresswick, Victoria in 1885 and moved to W.A. in 1917. He was the member for Fremantle in the Federal Parliament from 1928 to 1931, in 1934 he was again elected as the member for Fremantle and next year was the Parliamentary leader of the Labor Party. When the Menzies government collapsed in 1941 he became Australia's 14th Prime Minister , a role he held until his death a few weeks before the end of the war in Canberra, A.C.T.
His grave is in the Presbyterian section of Karrakatta Cemetery (BC 375)
