This station is a U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey reference mark, located in Assateague Island National Park. It is across the roadway from the North Beach Campgrounds sites, and immediately west from the roadway. The North Beach campgrounds are part of the National Park. These are not part of the Maryland State Park, which is to the north, and also has campgrounds.

NOTE--A STATE-RUN PARK AND VISITOR CENTER IS IN THE SAME AREA, DO
NOT CONFUSE THEM.
TO REACH FROM THE JUNCTION OF US HIGHWAY 50 AND STATE HIGHWAY 611,
ABOUT 2 KM (1.2 MI) WEST OF OCEAN CITY, GO SOUTHWEST ON HIGHWAY 611
FOR 11.97 KM (7.44 MI) TO THE PEAK OF THE VERRAZANO BRIDGE OVER
SINEPUXENT BAY. CONTINUE AHEAD FOR 1.22 KM (0.76 MI) TO A PAVED ROAD
RIGHT. BEAR RIGHT, SOUTHWEST, ON BAYFERRY ROAD FOR 3.62 KM
(2.25 MI) TO A TOLL BOOTH. CONTINUE AHEAD FOR 1.10 KM (0.68 MI) TO A
CROSSROAD AT GATE AND OLD BOATHOUSE ON THE LEFT. TURN LEFT,
SOUTHEAST, THROUGH UNLOCKED GATE FOR 50 M (164.0 FT) TO A TRAFFIC
CIRCLE. BEAR LEFT FOR 20 M (65.6 FT) TO END OF TRUCK TRAVEL. WALK
NORTHEAST IN SAND FOR 48 M (157.5 FT) TO THE STATION.
STATION MARK IS SET IN THE TOP OF A 30-CM SQUARE CONCRETE POST
PROJECTING 15 CM (WILL VARY WITH WINDS). IT IS 0.3 M (1.0 FT)
SOUTHWEST OF A FIBERGLASS WITNESS POST, 47.9 M (157.2 FT) NORTHEAST
OF THE PAVEMENT EDGE WHERE TRUCK IS PARKED, 58.8 M (192.9 FT)
SOUTHEAST OF THE CENTERLINE OF BAYFERRY ROAD, AND 68.9 M (226.0 FT)
EAST OF THE NORTHEAST GATE POST NEAR BOATHOUSE.

REFERENCE MARK 3, A STANDARD DISK STAMPED NORTH BEACH 2 NO 3
1962, IS SET IN THE TOP OF A 10-INCH SQUARE CONCRETE MONUMENT
PROJECTING ABOUT 6 INCHES ABOVE THE SURFACE OF THE GROUND. IT
IS 172.0 FEET EAST-SOUTHEAST OF THE STANDARD METAL WITNESS POST
AND MARKER, 2.3 FEET SOUTH OF POWERLINE POLE NO. T1518 AND IS
ABOUT THE SAME ELEVATION AS THE STATION.

Another (easier) approach to this to go south from the national park entrance take a left towards the North Beach Campground sites, and travel approximately half-way between the Loop #2 entrance and exit roads on the left, and the mark will be on the right, about 45-ft WNW from the center of the roadway, and about 25-ft WNW from a paved bicycle path. It is also approximately 130-ft northeast from a pedestrian crossing. There was no utility pole near the station at the time of recovery. There is a Carsonite witness post adjacent the station. There was no power pole T1518 near this mark, as the original description says. At last recovery, the station and witness post were very easy to locate from the roadway.

There appears to be no datasheet published for the reference mark proper.
