This station, a U.S. Department of Interior / National Park Service standard disk, is located on Assateague Island, MD.
To reach the station from the junction of MD SR 611 and Stephen Decatur Memorial Rd (aka Berry Ferry Drive, the roadway to the National Park), go south on Stephen Decatur Memorial Rd approximately 1.8-mi to the station on the left.
The station is located east from a paved bicycle trail that runs parallel with the national park road. The station is located approximately 40-ft east from the center of the roadway, and north from the main entrance to the Assateague National Park. It is across the roadway northeast from a sign ('FEE AREA'), and southeast from an advisory sign ('DO NOT APPROACH OR FEED WILDLIFE INCLUDING HORSES') near the east side of the roadway.
The disk is mounted on the top of a steel rod driven to refusal, and is surrounded by a 4-inch diameter white ABS sleeve. The disk is flush with the ground surface. A Carsonite witness post is positioned in the sleeve with the disk, and is clearly visible from the roadway.
Beware of deer ticks.
