This mosaic is entitled "Rear Window". The plaque, at the foot of the mosaic, tells us:
Rear Window
1954
James Stewart as action photographer LB Jefferies is confined to his apartment by a broken leg. With the help of fiance Lisa Freemont, played by Grace Kelly, he begins to suspect a murder has occurred and sets out to solve the crime.
I've never seen Hitchcock look through a camera - some directors never stop." - James Stewart
Stella {Thelma Fitter}:"We've become a race of Peeping Toms. What people ought to do is get outside their own house and look in for a change.Yes sir. How's that for a bit of homespun philosophy."
The mosaic shows two caharcters looking out of the "rear window" towards a building where the main character suspects a murder has taken place. A full range of colours are used from white for L B Jefferies shirt, reds for the internal wall covering, blue and yellow for Lisa's dress, blues and white for the sky as well as green for grass and trees. Black is used for some detailing such as the wheelchair tyres and windows of the building being spied on.
The mosaic is about four feet high by four feet wide and is located on a curved wall at the Church Lane entrance to the underpass.
