Alfred Hitchcock was born in Leytonstone and to commemorate the life and works of this great film-maker a permanent gallery has been set-up in the underpass that forms the entrance to Leytonstone tube station. The images are all mosaics.

The co-ordinates given are for the Church Lane entrance to the underpass where a stainless-steel plaque (see photos) advises of the Hitchcock Gallery. All the exhibits are mosaics.
This mosaic is entitled "Psycho". The plaque, at the mosaic, tells us:

Hitchcock directs Anthony Perkins as Norman Bates, who "goes a little mad sometimes", and Janet Leigh as the unfortunate Marion Crane before the infamous shower scene.

For those of a certain age the scene depicted in this mosaic will be instantly recognisable - the shower scene from Psycho. The mosaic shows Marion Crane in the shower with Norman Bates lurking just the other side of the shower curtain with only half his face visible. In the foreground is a depiction of Alfred Hitchcock. This mosaic mainly used blue and red ceramic pieces. Blue is used to show the water jetting from the shower head and the shower curtain and red is used to show Hitchcock's face and hand. Flesh coloured pieces are used for the actors faces and body. Blue is used with black to show Hitchcock's jacket.
The mosaic is approximately four feet high and three feet wide.
