Pipe Theme in Red Orange - Greensburg, PA - Abstract Public Sculptures on Waymarking.com

The Siris webpage for this sculpture (link below) does not have an official description, but just two black & white photographs. "Pipe Theme in Red/Oranges I" consists of 12" diameter pipes welded at right angles to create two sides of a rectangle, but tilted at a 45-degree angle. There are five pairs of these pipe angles, which are not connected at the top, to make five adjacent shapes painted in a series of dark yellow, orange, and red hues. The ratio of the pipe lengths gradually varies to provide another dimension to the work. The entire piece is mounted in a bed of large crushed rock framed with wood.

The sculpture was originally located in front of Lynch Hall. In the summer of 2009, the medicine program housed in the building installed a blue (school color) sign to identify the facility. A decision was then made to repaint the abstract art piece in a range of blue colors to be visually consistent with the new building sign. The color scheme of this piece was restored to the original set by the following school year, but the sculpture moved to now be by the main campus entrance - away from the conflicting blue sign. reference Good news is that the art work has been fully restored, thus in excellent condition.
