The cathedral is of brick construction in the modernist style with a prominent clock tower / belfry at the east end. The foundation stone was laid in 1961 and the cathedral was consecrated on 14 October 1962.
The Cathedral is located on the top of a hill at the corner of Cross and Parkfield Sts with views over Bunbury to the Darling Range in the east.
