It's on a large lake (Pend d'Oreille Reservoir), it has pit toilets, cheap firewood, water outlets, picnic tables, fire pits, a beach and a boat ramp. And it's FREE!

Buckley Campground is a service of BC Hydro, which operates Seven Mile Dam, behind which is the Pend d'Oreille Reservoir, on the shores of which is this campground. The campground is about a mile past the dam (east) on Seven Mile Dam Road. There's a sign at the turnoff. We stopped by on one of the busiest days of the year (Canada Day) and there were two campsites available, one of which was taken when we were there. It has a large day use area and the boat launch is heavily used by local boaters and fishermen. This is the nearest large body of water to Trail, BC, other than the Columbia River. It's also the best free campground we've come across yet. Though well used, it's off the beaten path, with the nearest highway about 10 km. to the west. Too, the setting is hard to beat.
