Farmer Raymond Walker encloses a public right of way and shoots at Greengrass. Getting nowhere with the police, Greengrass consults a lawyer over the right of way.
Jane Thompson, a neighbour of Walker’s is also having trouble. She gets heavy breathing phone calls, knocking on windows, and finally the smashing of her greenhouse. Rowan initially thinks it might be Walker, as Walker wants to buy the cottage for access to a building plot he has. Eventually Jane moves out to a home after her son in law sells her cottage over her head. Jane had given him power of attorney when she had been ill. Rowan intervenes and Jane returns to her cottage.
