The Whitepine Cemetery is located on Hwy 200, you can see it from the highway. 10 km south of Trout Creek and 25 km north of Thompson Falls.

The Whitepine Cemetery is located in Sanders County. It is small community cemetery with approximately 850 interments. It was established in the early 1900s and is still active.

The Jim Kirby homemade grave marker is made from a wooden board inscribed with Jim's name and date of his birth and death. The lettering is done with black paint. It is simple in design mounted on a metal post hanging with black chains. Along with the inscription, are two motifs; of a bear and a horse.

Jim Kirby was born on April 5, 1947 and died May 22, 1990.

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif.- Funeral services for Thompson Falls native, Melvin James Edgar "Jim" Kirby, 43, of San Bernardino, California were held Tuesday at Coffelt-Bunch Funeral Chapel in Thompson Falls with the Rev. Gaylund Olson of the Community Congregational Church officiating. Burial followed in Whitepine Cemetery.

Mr. Kirby died Tuesday, May 22, of injuries sustained in a two tractor-trailer truck head-on collision at Rialto, Calif.

He was born April 5, 1947 to Marion Allen Charles Kirby and Alice Connie Grantham Kirby at Thompson Falls. He had resided at San Bernardino for the past 12 years, where he was employed as a truck driver for Diamond Back Express in Rialto.

He served as a director on the Cardiff Farms Water Board in San Bernardino. He enjoyed hunting, camping and the outdoors with his friends and family.

Survivors include his wife, Judy, a son, Jake, and a daughter, Jeriee, all of San Bernardino, Calif., and an older son, Jimmy; his parents, Marion and Alice Kirby, Ronan; two sisters, Jenny Parsons, West Jordan, Utah and Linda Hogan, Columbia Heights.

He is also survived by other relatives who will miss him as well as his many special friends and co-workers.
