The council offices at Ashfordly are broken into. Some petty cash is missing and an adoption file. The file is for the adoption of the child of Sandie Elliot. Before the police can act a child is abducted from a nursery school. Unfortunately it is not Sandie’s child, her child died some time ago. Sandie and her boyfriend go on the run with the child. Eventually Rowan catches up with them and explains the situation to Sandie.
