Old Snow Hall
Site of a hallowed landmark of the Field Artilery, this was the historic "hub of the artillery wheel" during and after the first World War. The big frame building served as headquarters for the Field Artillery School and the post from December 15, 1917 to August 8, 1929 when it was totaly destroyed by fire. It was named in honor of Major General William J. Snow, distinguished comandant of the school in 1917 and first Chief of Field Artillery, 1918-1927. Snow Hall's great name and traditions are perpetuated in the giant modern acedemic and administrative building of the U.S. Army Field Artillery Schhol located 700 meters south of here, which waspleted in 1954.
