Made from 1935 to 1948, the
"70" had a relatively long production run, meaning either that they had got it right in 1935 or they were just too lazy to change it. Its sister model was the Oliver Standard, which differed quite a bit in appearance. The 70 had a 3.6 liter 6 cylinder engine and one could get either a gasoline or a distillate burning model. They pumped out a tested 28.63 Hp at the drawbar and 31.52 at the belt, both higher than claimed. Power got to the ground through a 4 speed non synchro transmission. All four gears were useable in the field, as top speed in fourth was 5.9 MPH.
This example has had a front end attachment of some sort bolted on. Can't tell for certain what it was supposed to be or do - it involved cables and pulleys, though. Possibly a Rube Goldberg front end loader of some sort.
The museum is on Round Butte Road at the corner of 6th Avenue NW. on the west edge of the town of Ronan, MT.
