Thanks to decent Baroque facade Church of St. John of Nepomuk (Kostel Sv. Jana Nepomuckého) looks as a standard village church - but in the reality is this structure one of the oldest sacral buildings in Bohemia...

Thanks to decent Baroque facade Church of St. John of Nepomuk (Kostel Sv. Jana Nepomuckého) looks as a standard village church - but in the reality is this structure one of the oldest sacral buildings in Bohemia. The St. John' of Nepomuk Church is filial church of the Beroun Roman Catholic parish.
At the place of existing church (and also place where St. Ludmila was murdered) was in ca 930 built wooden Church of St. Michael and lately (XIth century?) Romanesque structure, which is still hidden in the walls and basement of the church. The building, firstly reconstructed in 1357 as a parish church, was during the folowing centuries often rebuilt, the last reconstruction gave to the church Baroque facade, windows and sanctus tower... The single nave structure with flat Romanesque ceiling is built from regular stone ashlars.
