A dance at the Aidensfield village hall is interrupted by a gang of rockers from Whitby. During the disturbance they throw a lead bar, they found in Greengrass’s truck, through the window. The bar, however, turns out to be gold, stolen in a robbery 7 years ago. Rowan is despatched to Whitby to investigate.
The gold had been processed by the late Arthur Pritchard. Some time later his widow, Netty, has her house turned over. The intruder was looking for the gold. Some time later the culprit is found trying to get the rest of the gold out of the wishing well in Netty’s garden.
