The Biology Department and Aquatic Resources Program at Texas State University-San Marcos has pursued restoration of the Spring Lake wetlands to their natural state and create an environmental education and research center to teach the public about the economic and ecological value of wetlands.

The center is typically open between 9:30am-5pm. Park hours (visit link)

School groups and the public are target audiences for exploring the wetlands via the boardwalk with information signs.

What is the boardwalk over?:
The boardwalk passes over Spring Lake which is where multiple freshwater spring bubble up to form the San Marcos River. This flow of clean water supports a variety of life - both local and invasive. The boardwalk is part of the educational program offered by Texas State.
