I knew there was a tsunami siren somewhere in Port Renfrew, and finally learned about the old fire hall where I thought it could be through some online research. When I stopped here to take some photos for this Waymark, a nearby neighbour came by because he was curious why I was taking pictures of the old fire hall. When I asked about the siren, he happily told me all about it.

The Port Renfrew Fire Department moved out of here and into their new hall in January 2010, and it has since been converted into the town's wastewater treatment plant. However, the siren on the roof is still used to this day for two purposes: as a call for the volunteer firefighters to head to the nearby newer fire hall, and as a tsunami warning siren. The fire siren was described to me as being an alternating two-tone signal, while the tsunami warning is a long, continuous signal.
