Staffed by an all paid force, the two fire stations in Kalispell responded to 2,486 calls in 2012, an average of almost seven calls per day, making this a busy fire department. However, the department handles medical calls and such things as HAZMAT calls in addition to fire related events.
122 years old, the Kalispell Fire Department came into existence at a town meeting on
Station 61, which was originally constructed in 1979 is located at 312 1st Ave. East in downtown Kalispell. Currently, Station 61 houses Medic 621, Engine 631, engine 631 Reserve, HazMat Trailer 671, Type 6 Engine 681 and various administrative vehicles. This station also houses the administrative offices for the Kalispell Fire Department.
This station was recently remodeled and provided with an efficiency upgrade with the assistance of Federal Fire Station Grant monies.
The Kalispell Fire Department responded to 2486 total calls for service in 2012. The Kalispell Fire Department has a compliment of three Type 1 engines, two type 6 engines, one 105 foot ladder truck, three ambulances, one water tender and three administrative vehicles.
Employees of the Kalispell Fire Department are trained in both fire and medical, providing Advanced Life Support (ALS) service to the local community with Firefighter/Paramedics. The employees of Kalispell Fire Department also provide the local community with fire prevention and education, technical rescue, and hazardous material response. The Kalispell Fire Department staffs two fire stations with a total of 29 Operations personnel. The Operations personnel work a 24 hour shift and staff three platoons.
