While placed in 1943, the first official description available is: DESCRIBED BY NATIONAL GEODETIC SURVEY 1959 IN SAN MARCOS. 0.3 MILE NORTH ALONG THE MISSOURI PACIFIC RR. FROM THE STATION AT SAN MARCOS. AT THE RR. BRIDGE OVER THE SAN MARCOS RIVER. 10 FEET SOUTHEAST OF, AND ABOUT 3.5 FEET BELOW THE CENTERLINE OF THE RR., AND SET HORIZONTALLY IN TOP OF THE SOUTHEAST END OF THE SOUTHWEST STONE ABUTMENT OF THE BRIDGE.

The original railroad bridge likely has been replaced with a modern concrete structure; however, the benchmark remains in sight on the original abutment. While accessible from the recently improved walkway along the San Marcos River, the better view is from the rail grade. Be careful as active set of tracks!
