The KENSEY JOHNS VAN DYKE HOUSE, 300 Delaware St., built 1820, of brick, two-0and-a-half stories high, like the older Van Dyke House, is in much more formal and severe taste than the earlier-built dwelling.  Brick eaves relieve the plainness of the entrance facade.   The broad door and shutters of the first floor are unusual geometric design.  The interior is notable for its fine woodwork. - Delaware: A Guide to the First State, 1938, pg 246.

The house is as described in the Guide.  It is in very good condition and continues to serve as a private residence.
