Gothic Buchenek Castle (Château de Buchenek), located in town Soultz-Haut-Rhin (Haut-Rhin département of France), was built in the 2nd half of the 13th century.
The castle was first recorded in 1251. The lower part of the main rectangular building probably dates from this period. Castle was rebuilt in the 14th century and also in the 2nd half of the 16th century (staircase tower). Restored after the Thirty Years' War, the castle was sold as national property. In the 19th century it was used as a factory. Near to delapidation, castle was bought by the town Soultz-Haut-Rhin in 1976 and subsequently completely reconstructed. Nowadays Château de Buchenek houses the Municipal museum. It has been listed since 1984 as a monument historique by the French Ministry of Culture.
