This station, just above downtown Missoula, is station number one and headquarters for the Missoula Fire Department, which consists of a total of five stations throughout Missoula.

Opened in 1995, this station is in the middle of the pack in terms of age, with two being newer and two being older than this one. It houses four pieces of firefighting apparatus, as well as the Administration, Fire Prevention Bureau and Training Division, along with the on-duty Battalion Chief. The department owns two ladder trucks, both of which, strangely, are deployed to other stations. The department itself was established in 1887, operating out of a single firehouse on Main Street. Today it has a staff of 75 firefighters and a fleet of at least 17 pieces of apparatus, which includes 2 watercraft.

Many, if not all, of the vehicles in the fleet have acquired nicknames, such as Clifford, Mangler, Beast and Behemoth.
