Mr & Mrs Barrie have not had their daughter immunised for whooping cough. She develops the disease and is treated by Dr Cheriton. Unfortunately the little girl dies and Dr Cheriton feels bad about the case. The hospital immediately takes steps to vaccinate local children at the hospital.
Dr Cheriton asks Lizzie to book a surprise weekend away in Grasmere for himself and Staff Nurse Taylor. Unfortunately Lizzie drops the letter from the hotel and her boyfriend picks it up. He suspects Lizzie is going off to Grasmere with Dr Cheriton. He follows Dr Cheriton and Lizzie and has a confrontation with him. All is smoothed over in the end.
Dr Ormerod visits Mrs Lyons about her insulin injection. Getting no response he lets himself in with a key given by the hall porter. Once in her flat he finds her out, but her dog keeps him prisoner until she returns.
