This year (2104) marks the 100th Anniversay of the Askov American newspaper. Founded in 1914 by Hjalmer Peterson. Peterson was later elected Lt. Governor of Minnesota in 1934. When Governor Olson died in 1936, Peterson served as Minnesota's 23rd Governor as he filled the remaining two years of Olson's term.
The newspaper serves northern Pine County and the communities of Finlayson, Sandstone, Bruno, Kerrick, Willow River, Sturgeon Lake and Rutledge.
