The placard accompanying this lion sculpture explains that marble work is from Attica, Greece and is dated around 525-500 BC. It was part of a larger sculpture...and the other piece featured a second lion felling a secong bull. An phot of the two pieces together is shown on the placard and provided in one of this Waymark's photos. The second lion, found in 1862, is now in a Museum in Athens.
