With the two tips projecting up to a height of 546 feet (166 meters), the 38-floor hotel achieves the category requirement. Otherwise, the roof height is 441 feet (134 meters).

The building, completed in 1986-88, was designed by RTKL Associates to be similiar to the twin bell towers of the Cathedral of San Fernando. Nearby is the expansive Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center.
