The Baltimore Office of Promotion and Arts ("BOPA") Mural Program, selected the site for a Charles Village Gateway Mural on the blank south-facing wall of 2439 North Charles Street. Starting in the spring of 2010 the CVCA Land Use Committee helped
oversee the design development for this mural, working closely with artist, Gregory Gannon, Painter/Illustrator and BOPA.
The design incorporates the architecture in Charles Village, the BMA, JHU and the green spaces such as Wyman Park Dell. The mural also addresses Charles Street as one of the first urban National Scenic Byways (designated in 2009).
The background is a natural tan color while the artwork is very vibrant with color. Gregory Gannon is signed in the grass in the lower left corner. The artwork covers the side of the building, approximately 40-50 feet wide and three stories tall.
