This is an ancient Roman cemetery, according to goole translate. It was established because Roman law forbade burials within a city. When a person died, their body would be buried below the street level. There are over 50 grave sites here, which is a very unusual place even underground for that many grave sites. This was made from the first to the third century, A.D.
