Although the area is under lock and key the post box can be seen through railings from a footpath that runs alongside.
The post box is double mouthed with each mouth being blocked to prevent use. Whether it was like that when the area was open or was carried out when the area was locked up is not known.
The box appears to be in excellent condition with good paintwork and no signs of rusting. As the maker's details are clearly visible it is assumed the box was grit blasted prior to its last painting.
