The Prison Doodlebug is a dead tractor vehicle parked in front of the Folsom Prison Museum, Folsom, California. It was used for hauling heavy objects around the grounds of Folsom Prison.
It was made up, like a Frankenstein monster, of parts from various vehicles, but it looks and functions like a tractor. The attached photo of the plaque indicates it used a Model A (Ford) motor and radiator, a military transmission, on what looks like a home-built chassis. It sports a tractor seat, giving it the appearance of a farm vehicle.
The Doodlebug is one of several prison artifacts displayed in the front yard of the Folsom Prison Museum.
Engine Type: Internal Combustion
Wheel Type: Rubber
Make: Ford motor, military transmission, tractor seat (Mixed - see text)
Model: 1940 Model A Ford
