Juglans nigra je mohutný opadavý strom pocházející ze Severní Ameriky. U nás dorustá výšky 30 - 50 m. Koruna je kulovitá se silnými vetvemi. Raší pomerne pozde. Borka je podélne hluboce vráscitá. List je lichozperený, strídavý, 30 - 60 cm dlouhý. Lístky jsou vejcite kopinaté, 6 - 12 cm dlouhé, zelené. Samicí kvety jsou seskupeny ve svazcích po 3 - 5. Blizna samicích kvetu je oranžove žlutá. Kvete v kvetnu. Plodem je kulovitá peckovice - orech 4 - 5 cm široký, velmi tvrdý. Dozrává v ríjnu a na strome drží asi mesíc. Orešák cerný nejlépe prospívá na slunci. Pudy žádá propustné, živné. Vhodný na výsadby do vetších parku jako solitera ci do menších skupin. Množí se semenem.

Juglans nigra is a huge deciduous tree originating in North America. We grow to a height of 30-50 m crown is rounded with strong branches. Rashi relatively late. Borka is deeply wrinkled longitudinally. List is odd pinnate, alternate, 30-60 cm long. The leaves are ovate-lanceolate, 6-12 cm long, green. The female flowers are grouped in sets of 3 to 5 Blizna female flowers are orange-yellow. It flowers in May. The fruit is a globose drupe - nut 4-5 cm wide, very hard. It ripens in October and on a tree holding about a month. Black walnut is best served by the sun. Asks permeable soils, nutrient. Suitable for planting in larger parks like solitary or in small groups. It reproduces by seed.
