This fountain in Esslingen, Germany, Baden-Württemberg is called 'Zwiebelbrunnen' (Onion Fountain). It is located at the intersection of 'Im Heppächer' and 'Milchstraße'.

The fountain has been created in 1984 by the local artist Wolfgang Klein. It shows a huge onion in its center.

The inhabitants of Esslingen are called 'Zwiebel' (Onions).
There's an old saying that the devil gave them this name because a market woman gave him an onion instead of an apple.

The water of the fountain is drinking water!
