"Ano Nuevo's archaeological sites preserve evidence of the oste (Kee-ros-ti) people's long history. The Quiroste, who have lived here for over 5,000 years, are part of the 01 Indian language family, and still maintain their traditional ties to The Quiroste became a complex and wealthy society by developing an e - trade network. that used the area's abundant shell and chert resources.:.;, shells were formed into beads and ornaments, and the ehert heated and shaped into knives, spears, and arrowheads."
