The Pocasset Gymnasium, designed by architect Walter T. Vahlberg, was constructed by the WPA in 1940-41. The building is still in use by the local school district and has housed grades 1 thru 6 since the 1960s.

This is a one-story rectangular building with a barrel roof. The exterior walls are native sandstone. It maintains a horizontal appearance due to white concrete coping and a concrete belt course wrapping around the south side. The building has a Modern style with rounded corners and 9-pane round windows on the upper wall of the south side, and above the entrance. Attached on the west side is a one-story, flat-roofed shop-finishing room extension which has large 16- and 20-pane windows, with two pedestrian and one overhead door entrances on the west side.

The gymnasium entrance is a rounded, single door entrance, with boarded up sidelights and transom. The six windows on the south side are also boarded.
