"Outrora construída sob a designação de «Capela do Bom Pastor» data de 1705, « ESTA CAPELLA MANDARÂ FAZER OS IRMÃOS DA I.de DE N.S.DO SOCORRO», dizeres que foram mutilados pelo tempo mas que ainda hoje são visíveis no cimo da porta principal.
Na parede lateral direita, da Capela-Mor, surge uma outra inscrição gravada em pedra, com o seguinte texto: «ESTA CAPELLA-MOR MANDOU FAZER O ABB.e MARCOS DE SOUSA COELHO P.a O QUE LHE DEIXA 4 MEDIDAS 2 DE ALVO E MAIS 2 ESTAS NA FREG.a D QUAIRAS LUGAR DO OUTEIRO DIZEMADOS-1704».
Acabou por ser ampliada e restaurada em 1936, passando a ser considerada Igreja Matriz."
