This tall monument stands on the Greene Street median strip, between 10th Street and James Brown Boulevard.

From the Smithsonian AIC Description:
Granite shaft capped with an eagle with wings spread sitting on a sphere. The top portion of the shaft is encircled with reliefs of stars on a fluted field. The bottom of the shaft features a relief of a torch and is encircled with reliefs of flowers. The shaft sits on a platform with stairs at both the front and rear.
An inscription etched into the cylindrical base reads:

TO HONOR
THE MEN OF RICHMOND COUNTY,
OF EVERY CREED AND COLOR,
WHO SERVED AT THEIR COUNTRY'S CALL,
THAT AGGRESSION AND LAWLESS FORCE
SHOULD NOT DOMINATE THE WORLD.
