James Whitney operated the Conway store and lived at this location. In 1855 he sold the property to Thomas Dickinson, who became insolvent relinquishing the title to Ebenezer Maynard, who sold it to Richard M Tucker. All of these owners served as the postmaster in 1856 when the post office was housed here. In 1981 the Conway Historical Society purchased the property, which maintains a small museum here.
