The building housed the Post Office and the Conway Electric Street Railway. The Morning Sun Lodge of Masons was organized in Ashfield in 1826. The lodge was moved to Conway in 1830, but surrendered its charter in 1840. The charter was restored in 1870. The Post Office was relocated to its current location in 1958 and the street railway company went out of business in 1921.
